“Advent is here. What a marvelous time in which to renew your desire, your nostalgia, your real longing for Christ to come – for him to come every day to your soul in the Eucharist. The Church encourages us: Ecce veniet! – He is about to arrive!”

St. Josemaria Escriva

Jesse Tree

A Jesse Tree represents the linage of Jesus Christ. Each day there is a scripture passage that relates to God’s people and a corresponding ornament to be placed on a tree, the Jesse Tree.

Here is a link to printable Jesse Tree ornaments and passages, one that spans from December 1 – December 25 for your personal use at home.

Waiting for Christ

This year, our parishes have purchased “Waiting for Christ: Mediations for Advent and Christmas” put out by the Augustine Institute.

It is a complication of homily excerpts from St. John Henry Newman and can be used time and time again! It is available in the back of our parishes.

In these reflections, popular author and speaker Fr. John Burns will help you reclaim the sacred sense of longing and joyful hope at the heart of Advent, focusing on a new theme each week—vigilance, preparation, nearness, and Emmanuel—that you can relate to your own life.

Watch the weekly reflections on FORMED.

These guided meditation videos will help you ponder what was in Mary and Joseph’s hearts and minds as they awaited the birth of Jesus—and you will be invited to reflect on and deepen your own relationships with others. Rejoice! will help you open your heart to the peace and joy of the Holy Family as you prepare for the coming of Jesus this Christmas.

The Gift

What are we celebrating? Why is everything still so messed up? What impact does this have on my life today? How should I respond?

Fr. John Riccardo addresses these questions in his Christmas homily, “The Gift.”
